3rd Session Art Camp #5

Our final project for this session was a bigger than life donut with fabulous sprinkles... After the students finished their oil pastel on 12 x 24 inch paper they ate the donuts. It was a fun way to end the week!

3rd Session Art Camp #4

For this class we took a magazine picture and glued it on canvas board. Then the students created a fun new environment in acrylic. I really like this project and enjoy all the great ideas the students come up with.

3rd Session Art Camp #3

We copied the students names in Egyptian hieroglyphics and painted the symbols under an Egyptian self  portrait on 16x20 inch canvas board in acrylic. They also used a wash as an underpainting to feel like an aged surface.

3rd Session Art Camp #2

Just wanted to mention, this session my students were ages 7 to 9.... their work is quite impressive.
This lesson was about contour drawing an animal face and putting it on a graphed 16x20 inch illustration board. Painted with tempera paints, the students alternated warm a cool colors.

3rd Session Art Camp #1

The first day of camp I like to use a subject with simple shapes.

The students used oil pastels on 17x22 inch paper.

2nd Session Art Camp, #5

The students did a colored pencil thumbnail of their cupcake focusing on looking for the simple shapes. Then they picked a colored sheet of 18x24 inch canson paper to do the cupcake bigger than life using oil pastels. The students really found the simple shapes and were so good about taking their time. Then we ate our reference cupcakes! What a wonderful week we had!

2nd Session Art Camp, #4

This lesson focused on patterns and letters. It was fun to watch the students develop their ideas/thumbnail drawings and see what they chose as favorites. Take a moment to look at their patterns, color choices and subjects. They worked in markers on illustration board and did a great job!
