Watercolor and ink birds, ages 10 - teens

This is a great project to let the students get a feel for wet on wet watercolor technique. They also got to  use patterns/zentangles to add another layer of interest. Great job!

I really appreciate the projects that get the students thinking.
This was about layers, and patterns behind a layer.

"Whoo" likes color and patterns? ages 7-9

We traced a wooden owl shape and created patterns in the different areas. The students also did a thumbnail in markers that was just a good as the finished paintings. Painted in acrylic on 11x14 inch canvas board.

sunshine patterns, ages 7-10

If the sun won't come out outside the studio then we will make some inside. Watercolor paper 12x14 inches, painted with a sun and sky background. Then the students created patterns on strips of paper and glued them down. These are so cheerful and bright.... think Spring!
