City Layers, ages 7-9

We talked about things we see in a city and how the windows in a building will look bigger in the closer buildings. The students worked from front to back on this one. We drew in our street, cars... and then the closer buildings and then the taller, further buildings and the night sky and moon.
We used markers and water to do these fun, colorful city scenes.

Harvest Moon, ages 7-9

This is my example of the harvest moon paper project that the students used as inspiration for their own.
We took cake cardboard rounds (you could use clean pizza rounds too) to use as our moon. A little neon yellow marker gave the moon a bright color. Then the students made a list of things they could use in their projects and cut/glued them. Note the shy raccoon looking from behind the corn stalks.

Optical Illusion Art Project, ages 8-12

Back for a new year with a wonderful group of students. I have been researching many new projects, some online and some from my head and this weeks project I got from Rundes Room who got it from  We heart art . The internet is a wonderful place to share/exchange ideas. I am always happy when I see that another teacher has used my ideas! Anyway, this was a great first of the year project to assess where everyone is at and to have fun with color (we made color wheels first) and then do the step by step to see how each one came out. Lots of "wow, cool..." when these were done! 12x14 inches on card stock with marker and crayon.
