Animals and Man, Teen class

We looked at some reference images of animals that had a human element and let our imaginations go wild. This is one of my favorite projects of the year! The students used ink (fine point sharpie) on 17 x 22 inch card stock.

Colorful Animals, ages 7-10

The students chose an animal to draw and we talked about simple shapes. They found simple shapes to draw their animal and used black oil pastel over their pencil lines to outline the animals.
They used bright watercolor washes on 12 x 18 inch watercolor paper to finish.

Animals and a Square, ages 8 to 11

Oil pastel on 18 x 24 inch canson paper is what the students used to draw an animal. It was important to have the animal coming out of the square/rectangular base as an added element. The students always do a nice job with oil pastels.
