Watercolor pets, ages 8 to 12

This was our final class before summer break. We finished our lessons using watercolor and we used pictures of our pets (or animals we like). They all did a geat job working with the texture of the fur/skin, seeing the lights, darks and shapes. We also did a quick project doing some paper marbling. We took the finished paper and made greeting cards out of them. I forgot to photograph to share...
Students, enjoy your time off!

Oil Pastel Pets

We had a small class this week and I was able to work with two of my newer students.
They brought photos of their pets and worked on some thumbnails learning how to look for simple shapes and how they relate. It is not easy, but with practice...
Then we used the same formula to draw on a big page and worked in oil pastels to draw the texture of the fur. They learned to "clump" areas of the fur...
Very nice job!
