Tree colors, ages 10-12

We have done this project in the past and I wanted to repeat with this new group of students. It is a great project to learn/practice subtle color mixing. I will post more as I get them.

Night Paintings, teen class

I wanted the students to have a look at light at night and see the colors, shadows, glow... They chose their own reference photos and painted in acrylic on stretched canvas.

March Friday Evening Art and Pizza classes

Friday March 11th, from 6 to 8:30 pm, $35 fee for ages 8-14

PET PORTRAITS, COLORFUL OR REALISTIC

Bring a photo of your pet or favorite animal and we will draw and paint.

The student can choose to use fun colors or paint realistic.

ANIMALS AND VINTAGE COSTUMES

Bring a photo of your pet or favorite animal.

We will have reference photos of vintage costumes to use.

This is a silly, fun project that always gets a smile.

Room 101, an Art Studio in Mars

Pointillism Hearts, ages 7-10

A quick little project to celebrate Valentines Day.  Pointillism using colors, moving dark to light on the hearts and just a fun pattern for the background. Acrylic on stretched canvas. The students also made giant cut paper valentines that I forgot to photograph. And they were nice too.

Penguin Stocking Caps, ages 7-10

We each filled in the penguin shape with the eyes, buttons... and designed a great pattern for the stocking cap. Acrylic on stretched canvas.

Cut Paper Places, Teen Class

The students picked a favorite place and used cut card stock to paint the image. It was nice to see them simplify the value shapes and then add detail. Great job!!!

Day, Night Lighthouses, ages 9-11

We did a poster sized tempera painting of a lighthouse with swatches of day and night colors. It was fun to think of how the colors change with the light.

This is a multiple step and multiple layered project.
We can use bright colors to chase away the winter blahs!

Seussicals are mixed up, fun animals on a patterned background.

Exploring Art- ages 7, 8, 9  -- Tuesdays, 5 to 7 pm, $110 /month of 4 classes
Exploring Art - ages 10, 11, 12, 13  -- Wednesdays, 5 to 7 pm, $110 /month of 4 classes
The Thursday teen class is full.
Exploring Art does just that. We use many different techniques, mediums, subjects and ideas.
The projects are more involved and students have more room to explore their own ideas.
These classes are great for the serious student and introduces many concepts and techniques.

I had some last minute cancellations for the December 5th class, tomorrow from 6:30 to 9 pm.

I supply the art project, you can bring a friend/son/daughter (ages 16 and older), snack and drink if you like.
