Painting Succulent Plants

We did a painting looking at the succulents from the top. Changing our point of view makes for interesting paintings and is something we should consider in our work. Also it was important to play with color to make these gorgeous greens and to use shadows to push the top layers up. This was a great lesson in observation and took a realistic painting to an almost abstract one.

Acrylic value layers with a pop of color

We talked about contrasts and ideas. City, county, industrial, agriculture, happy, scary....
and thought to use values with a pop of color.

Summer Art Camp Demonstrations


I am so lucky to have my art camps filled with creative and motivated students. I didn't have time to post all the student work, but wanted to post my demonstrations in just in case someone might get inspired...  We also did t-shirts using a few printing techniques...
