Watercolor Tree Shapes, ages 8 to 11

It takes a while for a student to learn to draw what they see and not what they think they see. Take a tree shape... so many kinds of trees, all alittle different...
We used black and white photo references and looked at the tree shapes... the leaves, not as individual, but as shapes/clumps with a light side and dark side....
We also looked at the shape of the road, where it comes off the page, how it wraps around... and shadows.
The students really simplified what needed to be and played with some color. Nice job!
